David James Knight  earned his Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University, where he focused on international criminal defense and human rights law. As a student, he was selected by the Transnational Law Institute to train Cambodian defense attorneys at the Khmer Rouge Tribunals in Phnom Penh and to conduct legal framework analyses in Monrovia, Liberia for the U.N. Office of Drugs and Crime. He also interned at the Office of the Public Defender, studied intercultural dispute resolution at Humboldt University in Berlin and lectured on the Geneva Conventions at Virginia Military Institute.

Knight has since volunteered for the Coalition for the International Criminal Court at the United Nations and researched extensively on war crimes, particularly the use of child soldiers. His article on the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict in Uganda appears in the Summer 2009 issue of The International Lawyer.

Knight joined our firm in 2008, where he handles a broad spectrum of civil and criminal defense matters for both domestic and international clients. Additionally, he serves part-time as a First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, New York Army National Guard.
